Introducing ZXTM Global Load Balancer

ZXTM GLB logoZXTM GLB (ZXTM Global Load Balancer) is Zeus' new Global Server Load Balancing product. Whereas products like ZXTM load-balance your traffic across servers within a single datacenter, ZXTM GLB manages the DNS resolution process to load-balance users across multiple different datacenters.

ZXTM GLB is built on the traffic management foundation of ZXTM. This technology provides the core of ZXTM GLB, but a radically new user interface gives a very rich degree of visualization and control over how users are directed to datacenters:

Dr Evil map!

ZXTM GLB is a DNS-based Global Server Load Balancer. It sits alongside existing DNS infrastructure, operating as a proxy and rewriting DNS responses as required to control which datacenter each user is directed to.

Datacenter selection is based on datacenter availability, performance and geographic proximity, as well as the choice of load-balancing method (active-standby failover or active-active load-balancing).

Zeus has been running ZXTM GLB for our own services since December 2006. Rather than replicating our primary datacenter in its entireity, we've been using an easy and lightweight solution. We also used a pair of ZXTM traffic managers with Content Caching to replicated and cache almost all of our website content in our remote datacenter. Using TrafficScript, it's been easy to build an aggressive content cache which stores both static content and multiple variants of dynamic content.

For more information, please take a look at the ZXTM GLB product pages.

Where can I find the detail of XML functionality and performance spec?

Jimmy - there's performance data for ZXTM GLB on two different platforms in the ZXTM GLB FAQs; contact us for more information.

However, if you're interested in processing XML data, then ZXTM is probably the product for you, rather than ZXTM GLB. The product information is here; XML-specific information here and XML code samples here.

If you have specific questions, please drop an email to info@zeus.com.
