You will need to download and install your selected virtualization software, the download and configure the Zeus Desktop Edition virtual machine.

Virtualization Software

The Zeus Desktop Edition requires virtualization software to run:

  • Windows, Mac and Linux users can use the free VMware Player or VMware Server software.

VMware Player lets you easily run any virtual machine on a Windows or Linux desktop PC, and VMware Server allows you to run multiple virtual machines on a Windows or Linux server. Choose VMware Player if you are unsure.

  • XenServer is a free alternative to VMware ESX and other Hypervisors.

If you have a XenServer installation handy, you can deploy the ZXTM Desktop Edition there.

  • Windows users can also use the free Microsoft Virtual Server 2005 R2 software.

Microsoft Virtual Server 2005 R2 runs on Windows Server 2003, Windows XP Professional and Windows Vista systems.

  • Windows, Mac, Linux and Solaris users can also choose the free Sun xVM VirtualBox virtualization software.

VirtualBox is a lightweight virtualization platform.

Recommendation: If you expect to run Zeus Desktop Edition on a standalone system that is not connected to a network with a DHCP server, choose the VMware alternative.
