- Always configure a failure pool. Even a static page informing users of a temporary problem is better than no response at all
- Always drain a node prior to removing it from a pool or disconnecting it from the network to allow existing transactions to complete.
- Memory settings (
max_client_buffer) may need to be changed if you need a large inspection depth for TrafficScript rules.
- Heavy processing should be distributed across all your ZXTM machines. This is especially important if you only have a single external IP.
- For security reasons, always log out of the Administration Server when configuration changes are complete. Use the Security settings to restrict who has access to the Administration Server, and control access to the Administration Server's port (9090 by default) with your firewall.
- It is good practice to make backups of your configuration files before making any major changes to ZXTM's settings.
- Experiment with custom monitors to check the availability of back-end services.
