Shared library problems on Solaris 8 and 9

With recent versions of ZXTM (version 3.1r1 and later), you may encounter problems when installing and running the software on Solaris 8 and 9:

# ./zinstall
You are installing a package built for SunOS
Zeus Installation Program - Copyright (C) Zeus Technology 2005
ld.so.1: .install/md5: fatal: libCrun.so.1: version `SUNW_1.5' not found
ld.so.1: .install/md5: fatal: libCstd.so.1: open failed: No such file or directory
FATAL: Corrupt install tar (md5 non-functional)

Early versions of Solaris 8 and 9 have old versions of the libCrun.so.1 library, and do not include libCstd.so.1. More up-to-date version of these libraries are bundled in more recent versions of Solaris 8 and 9. The newer libraries are required for any software (such as ZXTM) that has been compiled with recent versions of Sun's C++ compilers (Sun Studio 9).

If you see the above error, you can apply a patch to resolve the library problem:

Version Patches Notes
Solaris 8 SPARC 108434-17, 108435-17 109147-07 may also be required
Solaris 8 x86 108436-15
Solaris 9 SPARC 111711-11, 111712-11
Solaris 9 x86 111713-08

You can then rerun zinstall to install or upgrade the software.

Sun patches can be obtained from http://sunsolve.sun.com/pub-cgi/show.pl?target=patchpage . You may install a later revision of a required patch if that is available (so you can install 108434-18 or higher rather than 108434-17).
