How do I perform a memory test ?

Occasionally, after contacting support, you may be asked to perform a memory test on your ZXTM Appliance. This will be requested when our engineers suspect that a fault in your Appliance's RAM is causing problems and failures.

Testing the memory is a simple operation, but it does involve down-time while the memory is tested. You will also need an engineer in your data center who can interact with the local console.

  1. Reboot the Appliance. This can be performed from the main ZXTM Administration server, or from the console (Press Alt+F2, login as a user in the 'admin' group and type 'reboot' ).

  2. Press "Escape" when prompted to enter the 'grub' menu:

  3. Select "Memory check (memtest86+)":

  4. The memory testing application will start and test your memory. You should leave this running as long as possible.

If any errors are detected these will be flagged up in the memory test application. You should report any errors found to your support provider.

You can press 'Escape' in the memory testing application to reboot the appliance. The ZXTM operating environment will automatically start and traffic will begin being handled again.
