Why am I having startup issues on SLES?Upgrading from SLES (Suse Linux Enterprise Server) version 9.x to version 10.x has a side effect of altering the order that startup scripts are run. This can result in ZXTM being started before the networking on the machine has been initialized and can result in issues including ZXTM reporting itself as being unlicensed. It is also possible for this problem to occur if you have turned ZXTM off then on again via the chkconfig command. All versions of Linux have their little quirks and we try to work in a standard way to accommodate them all but in this specific case SLES is doing something different with its init scripts. It looks for some meta-data in the init script itself to find any dependencies a program may have and if this is absent then it assumes that the script may be started at any time. To fix the problem you need to correct the symlinks in the /etc/rc.d/rc(X).d/ directories that SLES creates. To do this just move each of the links from S02zeus to S85zeus. Restart the machine and everything should be back to normal.
