Deployment Guides

Deploying Microsoft SharePoint services with ZXTM

Microsoft SharePoint services provide an integrated suite of server capabilities for central storage and collaboration, space for documents, information and ideas. By using ZXTM to load-balance and manage traffic across two or more clustered SharePoint servers, you can achieve dramatic improvements in capacity and reliability.

Deploying Microsoft Outlook Web Access with ZXTM

Outlook Web Access is commonly deployed to support mobile workers who need to access email, calendaring, task and contact information from a web-based client. These services are often business-critical, and a lack of availability may affect the productivity of large numbers of workers. ZXTM can be used to improve the availability of Microsoft Outlook Web Access. The simple configuration steps to do so are described in this deployment guide.

Deploying Microsoft IIS with ZXTM

This deployment guide describes Zeus' best practices when load-balancing and managing traffic to applications hosted on Microsoft IIS. It covers basic configuration of ZXTM, issues around L2 IP transparency and SSL certificates and offload.

Using ZXTM to load-balance Windows Media Services

Microsoft Windows Media Services is a platform for streaming live or on-demand audio and video content over the Internet or an intranet. This article explains how to configure ZXTM to load-balance traffic to and from a cluster of Windows servers providing Media Services.

Windows Terminal Services, Session Directory and ZXTM

Microsoft Terminal Services are widely used by many organisations to enable users to access their desktop from any location, inside or outside the organisation. You can use ZXTM to scale a Terminal Services deployment and perform health monitoring to alert and avoid failed nodes.

Deploying ZXTM with BEA WebLogic Server

This document describes how to configure ZXTM to manage the traffic to a cluster of BEA WebLogic Servers.

It's also available as a White Paper (pdf)

Deploying ZXTM with Oracle Application Server

This pdf document describes how to configure ZXTM to manage a cluster of Oracle Application servers. It discusses load balancing the cluster members for reliability, offloading SSL connections to ZXTM for speed and efficiency, using ZXTM to manage session persistence and securing the Oracle Enterprise Manager administration tool.

SSL offloading for JBOSS and Tomcat servers

Many customers who run ZXTM in front of a J2EE application server, like JBoss or Tomcat, would like to use the high performance SSL processing of ZXTM but still need their application to know when the connection was secured. The Apache AJP protocol can be used to achieve this.

Running a JBOSS cluster with ZXTM

The JBoss Application Server is a widely used and very popular J2EE certified platform for deploying enterprise Java applications. The Application server supports all J2EE 1.4 features and includes support for clustering, caching and persistence.

This article will give you an overview of how ZXTM from Zeus Technology can be used to load balance a JBoss application server cluster.

What's the best way to integrate Apache with ZXTM?

ZXTM sits in front of Apache nicely. This article gives you some tips to make life even easier.

Preserving the Client IP address to Apache servers and Applications

When ZXTM load-balances a connection to an Apache server or Apache-based application, the connection appears to originate from the ZXTM machine. This can be a problem if the server wishes to perform access control based on the client's IP address, or if it wants to log the true source address of the request.

You can either use ZXTM's IP Transparency feature on supported platforms, or a custom Apache module.

Preserving the Client IP address to iPlanet/SunONE/Sun Java System Web Server servers and Applications

When ZXTM load-balances a connection to an iPlanet/SunONE/Sun Java System Web Server or application, the connection appears to originate from the ZXTM machine. This can be a problem if the server wishes to perform access control based on the client's IP address, or if it wants to log the true source address of the request.

You can either use ZXTM's IP Transparency feature on supported platforms, or a custom iPlanet/Sun NSAPI module.

How do I use an nCipher nFast Ultra card with ZXTM?

SSL Decryption can be offloaded from ZXTM to an nFast Ultra PCI cards from nCipher, to increase SSL performance even further. This article explains how to configure ZXTM and the nCipher cards in a cluster of ZXTM servers such that failover works correctly.

Integrating ZXTM with BEA Weblogic's T3 protocol

T3 is a proprietary protocol developed by BEA Systems. It's primary use is within BEA Weblogic's series of application servers.

Microsoft Exchange and ZXTM :: Delivering a Secure Mobile Solution

Outlook Web Access can be quickly, easily and securely integrated into ZXTM. We recommend that you allow ZXTM to handle the SSL decryption; reducing the cpu stress to your Exchange back-end(s). A HTTP protocol server, listening on port 443, should be setup to handle traffic to your Exchange server. ZXTM will now take care of the rest!
