This file contains important information about ZXTM GLB that you
should read before attempting installation:

Installing ZXTM GLB
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Installation of ZXTM GLB takes two steps.

Step 1: Run the 'zinstall' script as the superuser (root) from a shell
command prompt.  This extracts the software from the distribution
archive and places it in the installation directory.  It then displays
the URL of the web-based administration system that is used to configure
and monitor ZXTM GLB.

Step 2: Perform initial configuration by using a web browser to view
the web-based Graphical User Interface. When you view the
Administration Server for the first time, it will ask you a few questions
to get your ZXTM GLB configured and running. You will also be asked for a
password to secure the web-based configuration.

The document 'User Guide' describes installation and configuration
strategies for evaluation and production deployments along with all
aspects of the product. It can be found in the 'user_manual.pdf'
file in this distribution.

You should review this document before proceeding with the first
installation of ZXTM GLB.

Using the Zeus Administration Graphical User Interface
----------------------------------------------------------------------

The ZXTM GLB Admin Server is a web-based administration interface to your
ZXTM GLB cluster.  The URL used to access this interface will be provided
at the end of step 1 of the installation procedure.

Upgrading ZXTM GLB
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Upgrading ZXTM GLB is designed to be a simple process. You do not need to
stop ZXTM GLB before upgrading.

Upgrading via the administration interface
------------------------------------------

* Navigate to the 'Upgrades' tab in the 'Settings' section of the
  administration interface.

* Click the button labeled 'Upgrade'. This will launch the upgrading
  wizard.

* Follow the steps in the wizard and your software will be upgraded.


Manual Upgrade
--------------

* After unpacking the ZXTM GLB tarball, run the 'zinstall' script.

* Use the same installation directory as the existing ZXTM GLB (ZEUSHOME).

* Choose to Upgrade when prompted.

* The upgrade process is automatic from here and your existing
  configuration is retained. Note that ZXTM GLB will be stopped for a
  few seconds while the upgrade takes place.

Upgrading a Cluster
-------------------

To upgrade a clustered install, follow the instructions above for
each ZXTM GLB in turn.

Note that different major versions of ZXTM GLB do not automatically share
configuration.  Therefore, if you are upgrading to a new major version
(for example, from 2.0r1 to 3.0), you should not attempt to make
configuration changes while the cluster contains version 2.0r1 and 3.0
software.  If you do so, your changes may be lost when the upgrade
completes.

Downgrading ZXTM GLB
--------------------

If you wish to revert to an earlier version of ZXTM GLB, follow these
instructions:

* Change directory into ZEUSHOME

* Run the 'rollback' program:

./zglb/bin/rollback

* This program will list the installed versions of ZXTM GLB, and let
  you select an older (or newer) version to switch to.

Please note that if you revert to an earlier version of ZXTM GLB, any
configuration changes made after the upgrade will be lost.

Please review the 'Diagnose' information and the generate a 'Technical
Support report' using the ZXTM GLB Admin Server before contacting Zeus
Technical Support, and remembering to quote your evaluator or customer
number in the subject header of any emails.
