ZXTM 3.0 released

ZXTM 3.0 was released on Friday 10th December via customers' download pages and for evaluation.
Version 3.0 contains lots of improvements and new features.

  • TrafficScript

    Many new functions to manipulate requests in new ways.

    Response rules can manage responses, modifying them, substituting them or even retrying the request if the response is not suitable.

  • Service Level Monitoring

    Service Level Monitoring classes can be used to monitor the response times for your internal servers, raising alerts if servers begin to run too slowly. Response times can be graphed and analysed in the Activity monitor.

  • Bandwidth management

    You can configure maximum bandwidth caps for virtual servers or groups of connections; these bandwidth caps are shared across all machines in a cluster to give effective limits on the usage of bandwidth.

  • Session Persistence

    Session persistence data can now be shared between pools by way of Session Persistence classes. Session persistence data is dynamically replicated across a cluster, so if one ZXTM fails, the session persistence table is no longer lost.

  • UI

    Lots of stylistic changes, a new Wizard - it's bigger and better than ever before!

Upgrading is just a matter of running 'zinstall'. Note that the SLM and Bandwidth features are restricted by licence key, so will not be available with an existing ZXTM key.

Zeus Extensible Traffic Manager 3.0 Released
============================================

We are pleased to announce the release of Zeus Extensible Traffic Manager
(ZXTM) v3.0, the next-generation traffic management, security and
optimization solution which provides centralized control and resilience
for application traffic and ensures seamless interaction between
web-enabled services.

Launched in April 2004, ZXTM now forms an integral part of application
architecture within ISPs, and media, finance and e-commerce companies
worldwide. The release of ZXTM 3.0 highlights Zeus' commitment to making
the management of applications and networks less complex, particularly for
the enterprise.

At the heart of ZXTM is TrafficScript(tm), the most powerful and intuitive
traffic management language available today. In addition to enhancing
this scripting technology, ZXTM now includes optional service level
management and bandwidth control features that are enabled by license key
only.

Here is some more detail on the highlights of ZXTM 3.0:

Enhanced TrafficScript(tm) Capabilities
=======================================

TrafficScript has the ability to read both incoming client requests and
outgoing server responses for any protocol, with unlimited content
inspection depth. Traffic can be re-directed to the most appropriate place
based on specific business needs, rewriting the data on-the-fly, if
required.

Bandwidth Management
====================

Without suitable bandwidth management, popular low- or zero-revenue
services can 'steal' available bandwidth from those generating revenue,
reducing the quality of service to paying users. ZXTM allows control of
available bandwidth for services being run, guaranteeing capacity for
premium services.

Service Level Monitoring
========================

Weaving business logic into the routing fabric of your traffic manager can
guarantee users competitive levels of service. ZXTM can closely monitor
how services are performing against defined SLAs, providing alerts and
allowing remedial action to be taken if responsiveness drops. This makes
it simple to manage and monitor the enforcement of service performance.
With ZXTM assessing the health of application services now, practical
capacity plans can be made for the future.

"ZXTM combines three core areas of functionality to manage, secure and
optimize complex application traffic," commented Steve Palmer, Vice
President of Marketing at Zeus Technology. "In a single solution, ZXTM
takes the place of separate devices, returning centralized control that
dramatically simplifies the network and application infrastructure and
considerably reduces operational costs for the business."

Other enhanced features of this latest release include a more powerful and
easier to use web-based interface, stateful session persistence that can
be established based on any aspect of the request, and overall performance
improvements.
